![]() The game offers also several multiplayer modes - among them, a system similar to the one featured in previous games, pitting human players against AI-controlled opponents. ![]() The guide feature a detailed description of in-game collectibles and achievements. Whatever the case may be, however, you should definitely prioritize grabbing a decent sniper rifle early on.The guide to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands includes a description and hints for the game's story mode, in which you face off against Bolivian drug cartels as a member of Ghost Recon - the eponymous elite military unit. Maybe this is a symptom of the game being released early this week, and we'll see a shift in the meta once this thing gets more legs. Regardless, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently defined by its wide range of sniper rifles. It will be interesting to see if this meta changes over time, or if this is something deliberately baked into the package. Personal favorite series like Sniper Elite have multiplayer offerings, but they just don't have the player base that a Ubisoft game will. Sniping is usually treated as a specialization versus a necessary skill, and for a game to treat it as the latter is both unique and true to the series' roots. Sniper rifles are often a contentious part of so many online multiplayer games, and to play something seemingly built around them is pretty refreshing. While this may sound kind of dull, it's actually very compelling as somebody craving this sort of shooter. This almost never works, and they either get their brain matter splattered from a distance or walk right into an ambush of the other side's remaining squad. When one or two players remain, most people (foolishly, I might add) try to rush the sniper in an attempt to overwhelm them. As players get picked off, each team draws closer and closer as they try to get the perfect bead on their mark. A tense showdown between snipers kicks off while both teams struggle to find a better vantage point. Eventually, somebody fires off a shot from a distance, and one team tries to find cover to return the shot. There's an initial scramble towards a corner of the map, followed by a gradual inching forward. Most rounds of Ghost War have gone down a similar path for me, with a few hours of the mode under my belt. It's to the point that if a player is going into PvP without a distance weapon of some sort, they're practically begging to be laid out in seconds flat. While many players tend to have an AR of some sort on their person, what almost always changes the tides of battle are people who find a nice perch and pick enemy squads off from a distance. In Ghost War, the game's compelling survival-based deathmatch mode, snipers rule the roost. Related: Ghost Recon Breakpoint's Weird Way Of Fusing Single And Multiplayer It's just easier to take people out in one or two shots, and if you use the game's incredibly generous auto-aim, using a sniper rifle is basically the game handing you free kills - at least on the default difficulty level.Īnd from my time online, it's pretty clear that my experience isn't an isolated incident. While I always keep an SMG, AR, or LMG on me as a primary weapon, I tend to find myself favoring snipers purely for their efficiency. This experience has held true throughout my time with the game so far. Regardless of whether it was a bullet to the brain or solar plexus, the sniper decimated everybody at close range. ![]() It was a bit lower level, but that soon proved to not matter– it killed everybody in one shot. After killing him, I decided to switch to a sniper rifle to take out his buddies. I emptied the clip of a fairly powerful SMG into one's chest and head, and he sort of just stumbled a bit, before continuing to pepper me with shots. I'd triggered an alert phase, and was being swarmed by a whole squad of these elite assassins with similar loadouts. There was an instance where I was fighting a squad of Wolves - the game's primary antagonists - in a glitzy upper class suburb. Because the exact damage output isn't clear, some anecdotal evidence will have to suffice. ![]() That doesn't always hold true, however, for sniper rifles. This affects gameplay in the sense that shooting some enemies is straight-up pointless sometimes, as players can empty a clip of ammo into an enemy's face and still not kill them. – along with a generally MMO-lite style of progression. There are enemy levels, gear levels, etc., etc. While Wildlands was mostly devoid of Ubisoft's inclinations to turn everything they make into an RPG, Breakpoint hews very closely to games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and The Division. In the game's single player content, snipers seem to disregard one of Breakpoint's most divisive additions: enemy levels. ![]()
